Introducing Our Affordable Therapy Program: Compassionate Care at an Accessible Price

At VOX Mental Health, we believe everyone deserves access to high-quality, compassionate therapy—regardless of income or circumstance. That’s why we’re proud to offer our new Affordable Therapy Program, featuring 55-minute sessions at just $65/hr with a supervised student therapist.

What Is the Affordable Therapy Program?

Our Affordable Therapy Program offers lower-cost counselling sessions provided by Master of Social Work (MSW) practicum students.

An MSW practicum is a structured, supervised placement where graduate-level social work students gain hands-on clinical experience while completing their degrees. Practicum students work under the direct supervision of an experienced Registered Social Worker, ensuring that all care is ethical, safe, and meets the highest professional standards.

This model gives clients the opportunity to access affordable, meaningful therapy, while also playing a role in the training of future mental health professionals.

Meet Kanita

Kanita is a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work from McMaster University. She is currently completing her Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto, specializing in the Mental Health and Health field of study.

Kanita brings over three years of experience supporting children and families, along with two years in case management, where she supported individuals navigating complex physical and mental health needs.

Her approach is rooted in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based frameworks. She is deeply mindful of how systems—such as ableism, racism, and other structural inequities—shape mental and physical wellbeing.

Kanita’s clients often describe her presence as warm, empathetic, and authentic. She works collaboratively, honours each client’s lived experience, and supports healing at a pace that feels right for them.

“Healing and growth happen in spaces where people feel safe, supported, and heard.” – Kanita

Is Affordable Therapy Right for You?

This program is ideal for those who:

  • Are navigating stress, anxiety, burnout, or identity concerns
  • Need support with life transitions, school, or relationships
  • Are seeking therapy for the first time
  • Would benefit from a safe, non-judgmental space

Note: Some concerns may fall outside the scope of a student therapist, including acute trauma, severe substance use, or complex mental health conditions. If your needs exceed this scope, we’ll work with you to connect to the right level of care.

Session Details
