Stacy Keenan

Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist

MSW, RSW, Certified Play Therapist (CAPT)

Stacy Keenan is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto and has over 15 years of experience providing therapeutic support to children, youth, young adults, and their families in hospital and community-based settings.

Stacy’s practice is focused on children aged three and older, teens, and young adults in their early twenties, with a strong emphasis on child and youth mental health. She also provides parenting support, recognizing the vital role caregivers play in fostering emotional regulation, resilience, and healthy development.

Stacy is a certified Play Therapist with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy and uses developmentally appropriate, play-based interventions to help children express emotions, process difficult experiences, and build coping and problem-solving skills. Her approach incorporates both directive and non-directive techniques and is grounded in a holistic, client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed framework that is culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive.  Stacy is also trained in Eye Movement Desenitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) for children, adolescents and adults and utilizes this form of therapy to support clients when deemed appropriate.

She has experience supporting children and youth navigating a range of concerns, including anxiety, emotional regulation, behavioural challenges, trauma, grief and loss, stress, and life transitions. Stacy also works with neurodivergent children, including those with ADHD and Level 1 and some Level 2 Autism Spectrum Disorder. While she does not identify as a specialist in ASD, she is thoughtful and flexible in adapting her therapeutic approach to meet each child’s individual needs.
