Desiree Frenette

BSW, MSW, RSW

Desiree is a holistic integrative therapist (Registered Social Worker) with over 12 years of experience supporting those who have experienced complex trauma, anxiety and mood difficulties, as well as substance use challenges. She has supported diverse communities across private practice, community mental health, crisis response, residential programs, and school settings. Her education includes an advanced diploma in Child and Youth Work, an undergraduate degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology, and a Master's of Social Work.

Her trauma-focused approach integrates somatic, mindfulness, harm-reduction, attachment and parts-informed practices to help people find safety and stability in their mind-body and spirit. Desiree has training in TF-CBT, polyvagal theory, ACT, somatic therapy, addiction & dual diagnosis, mindfulness, neuro-affirming care, ASIST, and integrative trauma treatment. She is guided by anti-oppressive values and a commitment to honouring the lived experiences of those she is privileged to support.

Desiree’s relatable, warm, and grounded presence helps create a safe space where people can slowly unpack their experiences and the layers our broken systems create. Her own lived experiences with trauma and mental health challenges are what helped shape her into the helper she is, and it’s what helps her deeply empathize with what it’s like to be in your shoes.

She believes healing happens through compassionate connection; where people are met with curiosity, choice, and collaboration. Whether she’s supporting children, youth, or adults working through mental health challenges, Desiree helps people build a felt sense of safety and develop resources to create meaningful change.
