At VOX Mental Health, we believe that connection, support, and community can change lives. That's why we're proud to sponsor Buddy Up 2026, an inspiring community fundraising event hosted by COPE Service Dogs on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at St. Vincent Park in Barrie.
For more than 25 years, COPE Service Dogs has been creating life-changing partnerships between highly trained service dogs and individuals living with physical disabilities. These remarkable dogs help increase independence and confidence by assisting with everyday tasks such as retrieving items, opening doors, supporting mobility, and helping people navigate daily life with greater freedom.
COPE's impact extends far beyond traditional service dog placements. Through innovative programs like Canines in the Classroom, high school students participate in the training process while earning academic credits and developing valuable life skills. COPE dogs also support children through literacy programs and provide comfort in hospitals, hospices, and child advocacy settings, helping people feel safe and supported during challenging times.
Based right here in Barrie, COPE's work is made possible through a dedicated network of volunteers, foster families, educators, staff, and community supporters who share a common goal: unleashing the potential of both people and dogs.
This year's Buddy Up event reimagines the traditional fundraising walk by focusing on what matters most: community, creativity, and connection.
Participants are invited to choose one of COPE's incredible service dogs, create a fundraising page, and rally support from friends, family, and colleagues. Then, on June 20, supporters will come together for a fun-filled community celebration where they can meet the dogs they supported and experience firsthand the impact of their fundraising efforts.
The event will feature:
• Meet-and-greets with COPE Service Dogs and their foster families
• Live service dog demonstrations
• A community art project
• Paw print keepsakes
• Family-friendly activities and games
• The "Paws in Motion" obstacle course
• Pizza, photos, and community fun
• An opportunity to meet local firefighters and explore a fire truck
• An "Ask a Trainer" station where attendees can learn more about service dog training
At VOX Mental Health, we understand that healing and well-being often happen through connection. Service dogs play an extraordinary role in helping individuals overcome barriers, build confidence, and access greater independence. They also provide comfort, consistency, and companionship, qualities that can have a profound impact on quality of life.
The funds raised through Buddy Up help COPE train and place service dogs with individuals living with physical disabilities, support students facing barriers, and expand programs that bring comfort and support to community organizations throughout the region.
We invite our community to support this incredible cause by participating in Buddy Up 2026, making a donation, or simply coming out to celebrate the amazing work being done by COPE Service Dogs.
